Alfonso “Fonzie” Mayfield is a native to Milwaukee, WI. Fonzie is a husband to Kathryn Mayfield, a father to two beautiful daughters, and a community leader dedicated to chasing his dreams of entrepreneurship and community development.
Fonzie is the owner of Allure Cigars, a cigar company offering premium hand-rolled cigars while creating a unique and enjoyable experience. Fonzie is also the Founder and CEO of SAFEMN; a not for profit organization offering a network of mentorship services to black youth. Fonzie has, formally, worked with 180 Degrees as the Director of Youth Advancement. In this role, Fonzie led four programs aimed to offer case management and guided services to the youth in the St. Paul community. Fonzie joined 180 Degrees from Rêve Academy where he was the Director of Student-Run Businesses. As the Director, Fonzie led innovative enterprises that focus on leveraging the skills taught at Rêve Academy and providing the opportunity for students to earn money while applying newly minted digital skills. Fonzie also spent several years with Urban Ventures Leadership Foundation where he was responsible for creating a bridge to employment for community members with hindering barriers. He later became the Director of The Center for Fathering were he passionately worked to address the issue of fatherless homes and the compounding struggles that it creates. During his time at Urban Ventures, Fonzie has fostered meaningful partnerships, enhanced organizational programming, and empowered community members.
Fonzie holds a MBA in Business Administration from Cardinal Stritch University and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Bethany Lutheran College. In addition to his work at SAFEMN, Fonzie belongs to groups such the Minnesota Black Chamber of Commerce and the Minnesota Harvest Initiative. The Minnesota Harvest Initiative is a coalition of African American business owners and professionals, committed to a mission that potentates economic participation and educational freedom. Fonzie also served as a former board member for Oasis for Youth, an organization providing resources to homeless youth. Furthermore, Fonzie voluntarily gives his time serving as a mentor to young boys. Fonzie is passionate about mentorship and exposing youth to resources and opportunities.
