As an event promoter, Mr. Colbert’s career began while attending the University of Missouri – Columbia. Serving as the president of the school’s NAACP chapter, Mr. Colbert coordinated numerous campus events including undertaking an outdoor festival, which featured national recording artists, local performers and multiple vendors. From there, he matriculated to hosting events in his hometown of St. Louis, MO including; Select Saturday (voted by the St. Louis American as the “Best Function to Meet Quality People”) and The5Spot – a weekly live band concert, which was recorded and aired on Charter Cable.
Artists promoted by Mr. Colbert include Morris Chestnut, Darren Henson, Whodini, Jon B., Murphy Lee, Mobb Deep, Ghost Face Killa, Eric Roberson, Jaguar Wright, Maya Azucena, Lil G of Silk, DJ Red Alert, Wayne Wonder, Lathun, N’Dambi, Anthony David, comedians B-Phlat, Darius Bradford, Marcus Combs, Damon Williams, Lester Bibbs, Pierre, Ray Lipowski, and many, many others.
Mr. Colbert (along with good friend and fellow Twin Cities transplant, Charles Williams) is the former owner of a live performance venue in St. Louis, The Improv Theater/Suite2Fifty. The venue hosted comedians, recording artists, fashion shows, various local events and was featured in several music videos.
Always civic minded, Mr. Colbert is a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., former executive board member of both the Greater St. Louis Association of Black Journalists and the St. Louis chapter of the Urban League Young Professionals and Past President of the NAACP, University of Missouri - Columbia Chapter. In 2002, Mr. Colbert ran for License Collector (St. Louis) and garnered nearly 10,000 votes.
In July of 2008, Mr. Colbert moved to the Twin Cities to manage Magna Law, a small firm specializing in personal injury law.
Now a resident of the Twin Cities, Mr. Colbert continues to promote concerts and events and is humbled and honored to have been welcomed by so many in such a short period of time.
